#SheLeads Council

The #SheLeads Council is the junior board of Directors of The ForUsGirls Foundation to provide YGL Fellows with the opportunity to gain executive and strategic management experience. Members of the #SheLeads Council will meet with the organization's president six times a year to provide insight, direction, and feedback on the vision, mission, and impact of The ForUsGirls Foundation Inc. The #SheLeads Council is responsible for reaching out to individuals in the same age group and offering opportunities for them to get involved. The junior board supplements the board of directors by creating and managing events, volunteering, and fundraising. #SheLeads council welcomes young women, trans-binary & no-binary, and two-spirited individuals between 18-25.

• Serving on the #SheLeads council is about serving the organization and the community.
• Provides networking opportunities with the organization's donors, partners, community stakeholders, and mentors.
• Develop team working and executive leadership skills
• Gain experience in philanthropy, community development, corporate social responsibility and the UN 17 Global Goals.
• Maximize career development opportunities for internships, employment, career advancement and career coaching.

• A program graduate from 1 of the 3 ForUsGirls Foundation signature programs
• A young woman, trans & non-binary, or a two-spirited person aged 18-25
• Access to reliable internet & a working computer
• Highly self-motivated person with a positive attitude
• A person who is a team player, coachable, and willing to learn and grow
• A self-identified leader or the personal conviction to develop leadership skills

• Participate in virtual meetings six times a year (January, March, May, August, October, and December)
• Fundraise: organize events and activities to raise funds to support the organization's programs, scholarships, and international humanitarian efforts.
• Advocate: raising community awareness and communicating concerns of local young people.
• Expertise: provide contextual knowledge on current generation issues and oversee program evaluation and transformation.

• A member of the #SheLeads council will have a voting role on the organization's Board of Directors.
• The #SheLeads council members will appoint a Chair, Vice-Chair, and other officers as needed (for example, vice chairperson, chairperson of fundraising and recruitment committees or officers such as treasurers).
• Members will serve one year term.
• Members will apply for a seat on the council by completing the application form, resume, and letter of intent.
• Each member will seek a vote from the board of Directors to officially join the #SheLeads Council.
• The council will have a maximum of 7 members.

• Members of the council will set a meeting agenda for each meeting.
• Council members will take minutes to document discussions and decisions made during meetings.
• The council will report its quarterly activities to the Board of Directors.
• The council will invite the organization's President or Director of Programs Partnerships to participate in their meetings as observers.
• Council members will evaluate fellow council's member's performance.
• Council members must find a proxy to stand in if a member misses a meeting.
• Council members are encouraged to participate in recruiting and interviewing new members at the end of their term.
