As the ForUsGirls Foundation, we stand in solidarity with our Jamaican families and communities, and we call on our supporters to join us in immediate action. This is our moment to help translate hope into tangible support and to assist Jamaica in rebuilding not just structures—but lives, dreams and futures.
We collect subject textbooks from our Canadian educational partners to ship to our schools in Jamaica. Connect with our team to drop off donated textbooks.
Every child needs the right environment and resources to excel in their subjects. We provide our sponsored schools with supplies.
In Jamaica, every child is required to pay school fees to cover their education. We cover the fees for low-inccome children and lunch meals.
The Founder and President of The ForUsGirls Foundation, Aminka Belvitt was born in Wakefield, Trelawny, Jamaica. After her feature by One Young World in Vanity Fair alongside Emma Watson, she was invited by her childhood friends, primary and junior school educators to speak to their students.
They invited her to speak about following their dreams and developing leadership capabilities. They knew Ms. Belvitt being from their same community would inspire their students to have big dreams for themselves, their families, and communities.
Ms. Belvitt accepted their invitation to tour 5 schools across St. James & Trelawny Jamaica. From February 7 - 14, 2017, she travelled through small, rural communities speaking to over 2,000+ young women and girls about; leadership, self-empowerment, and the importance of protecting your dreams.
Ms.Belvitt was so inspired and touched by the students and the time that she spent with them. While at the public schools she noticed the visible lack of resources and the need for financial & educational support.
This experience was truly emotional for Ms.Belvitt, as these were the same schools she attended before she moved to Canada with her family at age 5. During this trip, she committed to supporting the schools upon her return to Canada.
3 year later, ForUsGirls Foundation Jamaica has provided the following support:

At The ForUsGirls Foundation, we believe in our responsibility to champion the UN Global Goals, as global citizens and humanitarians. We are committed to empowering, mentoring and developing feminist community and global leaders across rural communities in St. James & Trelawny, Jamaica.
During September, students at Goodwill Primary in Goodwill, Jamaica, compete in a talent pageant focusing on academic performance, skills and talents. The ForUsGirls Foundation sponsors one head girl (top performing student) from grade 4 to compete in the pageant. We cover the cost for her dress, hair and stash. Regardless of her place in the pageant, ForUsGirls covers her school fees for the upcoming school year, and sends her a school bag filled with supplies & personal hygiene items for the upcoming school term.
Starting in Summer 2020, ForUsGirls young leaders from Canada and the United States will participate in a 3-month humanitarian leadership training camp. The ForUsGirls young leaders will deliver a FREE summer camp providing coding classes, business devepment & social justice advocacy training, and literacy tutoring. ForUsGirls sponsored schools will host the internships in Trelawny & St. James, Jamaica. The internship will include the implementation of community gardens and build restorations.

Our vision for unique, fierce, and daring Black girls is to be their full selves in any room they enter. Our vision is to receive support in achieving their dreams and to become leaders, professionals and community organizers who change the world.
We believe in the power of community, the power of young women supporting each other, and the power of global solidarity. Today, the island of Jamaica needs our voices and support, and together we can help them rebuild—stronger and more resilient than before.

Many families have seen their homes destroyed and are in urgent need of relief and support. We invite our community and supporters to contribute through monetary or in-kind donations to provide immediate and long-term relief.
