We start the Black Girls Healing Through Wellness program with a catered healthy, and hearty lunch for program participants, wellness practitioners, and the program team.
Each week, before we divide into the individual wellness themes, activities and workshops, we check on the emotional well-being of the program participants. We used an interactive and moderate exercise to gauge the emotional state of the participants by drawing on interactions and feelings that they had—during the week leading up to the program.
This workshop will allow the program participants to get in touch with their image of self-love in a fun way & bring out the confidence in believing in their purpose through intuition & guidance. With powerful meditations, insightful mantras, breathwork & more, this will be the workshop to uplift! Guided meditation helps each connect with their higher self & feel into a higher power.
This workshop will use cognitive behavioural therapy to address the program themes of social anxiety, depression & sadness from social media, and the violations of boundaries. The lmental health specialist and therapist will provide participants with coping mechanisms to better handle situations deaing with the selected themes. This workshop will use interactive elements, creativity, and collaborative group dynamics to engage the participants in sharing their experiences with the theme topics in a supported and safe environment.
His workshop will allow the program participants to develop the creative habit of journaling their feelings on paper. In the provided ForUsGirls notebooks, participants will answer journal prompts from the workshop facilitators, as they dive deeper into the weekly theme topics, themselves, and their inner voice, to understand developing healing from existing trauma or emotions.
This workshop will use creative expression and art as therapy to develop healthy wellness practices in the lives of the young program participants. The participants will create separate artistic projects that align with the therapeutic theme each week. Participants will have the opportunity to take their creations home and share them them with their families while adopting the new artistic activity as a therapeutic outlet for them to explore when experiencing challenges with their mental health.
