We understand that our Black community has been hit the hardest by COVID-19. The impact of caring for sick family members, loss of employment, and being over-represented in low-paying public-facing jobs - our Black womxn and families require essential support.
The Fund is currently open to help 5 Black families in Montreal & Kitchener.
We offer emergency response support to those in need in our Montreal and Kitchener-Waterloo communities.
In December 2020, the ForUsGirls Foundation, with funding from the Government of Canada’s Emergency Community Support Fund led by Employment and Social Development Canada and the Canadian Red Cross Society, provided 230 Black womxn and families with emergency direct beneficiary aid. We provided grocery store gift cards, and public transit passes, gas cards, counselling & therapy and financial support for utilities, hydro, and rent.
As an organization, we believe in self sufficiency. To sustain our mission and work we provide professional services to spread our approach of anti-racism, inclusivity, feminism and innovativon through programming and leadership consulting. We provide services to other community organizations, companies, individuals and institutional organizations. As the workplace becomes more diverse and digitally focused - we value human centered solutions to create more equitable environments and overall wellness.
We have compiled a list of emergency community resource services to support you, from women-designated shelters, food banks, and community counselling services. If you need assistance accessing these resources, please reach out to our community support team at community@forusgirls.org
